CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A teenager has been arrested after he broke into multiple vehicles and a southeast Charlotte home while the family was sleeping, police said.
Noah Perkins, 18, is charged with nine counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, five counts of larceny, first-degree burglary, larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
CMPD said at 9:02 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 officers were called to a residence in the 7700 block of Sardis Road for reports of a break-in.
The victim stated that someone had broken into his vehicle and took several items. When officers arrived on scene, they determined that the suspect had entered all of the victim's vehicles and entered his home while his family was sleeping.
The victim was able to provide a list of items that had been stolen by the suspect.
A short time later, another victim who lives on Sardis Road walked out to his vehicle and observed a young man, later identified as Perkins, sitting in the front seat. The victim spoke with Perkins who got out of the vehicle. The victim was able to grab Perkins and place him on the ground.
While on the phone with 911, Perkins got up and ran away. With the assistance of a citizen who was running on the trails, officers were able to arrest Perkins.
Perkins is currently being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail. Detectives are currently reviewing similar cases and additional charges may be forthcoming.
This is not the first time Perkins has been arrested under similar circumstances. Perkins was taken into custody five other times beginning in Nov. 2015 for larceny and breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.
