Teen injured in hit-and-run wants driver off the streets

- The Matthews Police Department is searching for a hit-and-run driver after he reportedly crashed with motorcyclist early Sunday morning.

"I knew I was going down," Austin Morris said. "I knew I was going to hit him."

Morris was riding his 2011 Harley Davidson along Independence Boulevard when he said a white Ford Focus, likely made between 2002-2006 pulled out in front of him from Rice Road.

"I'll never forget the feeling of my helmet sliding on the road," Morris said.

Morris said the suspect's car has bumper and rear passenger side light damage.

He suffered a broken collarbone, thumb and has burns across his body.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Matthews Police Department.
