Texas murder suspect arrested in Rowan County

- A Dallas, Texas man has been arrested by the Rowan County Sheriff's Office after he allegedly beat a woman to death. 

In June 2016, the Dallas Police Department, of Dallas, Texas requested assistance with a murder investigation that occurred on March 3, 2016. 

The victim was a 32-year-old woman that had been found beaten to death inside of a house in Dallas, Texas.

During the course of the Dallas PD investigation, evidence collected at the crime scene matched Eric Warren McLendon, 51, who is a resident of 1435 West Ridge Road, Salisbury. 

McLendon is a registered sex offender due to a Rape conviction in Iowa. Dallas police requested assistance from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office in locating McLendon, and arranged for Dallas PD detectives to travel to Rowan County to further their investigation.

On Tuesday, June 28, 2016, Dallas PD Detectives arrived, and McLendon was located by RCSO Detectives, along with Dallas PD Detectives. 

RCSO Sheriff’s Detectives served with a search warrant for DNA to be obtained from McLendon, and brought him to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. 

At the conclusion of this part of the investigation, Dallas PD Detectives located, in Texas, obtained an arrest warrant for the March 2016 Dallas, Texas murder. 

Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested McLendon for being a Fugitive from Justice, in NC, and for being wanted in Dallas, Texas. 

McLendon was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under No Bond. He awaits extradition back to Texas to face the murder charges.
