MECKLENBURG COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Thousands of Duke Energy customers who live in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties were in the dark Tuesday morning after heavy rain swept through the area.
A power outage was affecting more than 1,400 residents in Harrisburg in Cabarrus County. According to the Duke Energy outage map. The outage was impacting residents who live along Highway 49 between Morehead Rd and Rocky River Rd.
Duke Energy said the outage was caused by fallen trees and/or limbs that damaged equipment. Power was expected to be restored by 6:30 a.m.
Another power outage affected more than 700 customers in the Lake Norman area of Cornelius. The outage affected residents who live between Torrence Chapel Rd and Bethel Church Rd.
Power was expected to be restored around 7 a.m.
