Six armed robberies reported overnight in Charlotte

- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a string of armed robberies that occurred throughout the City early Tuesday morning. 

The first robbery happened just before 2 a.m. at a convenience store in the 2000 block of Selwyn Avenue. Officers said two suspects robbed the store at gunpoint. No one was injured and so far no arrests have been made. 

The second robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven just before 4:30 a.m. along Clanton Road. Police said the robber did have a gun but fortunately no one was injured. 

The third incident happened around 6 a.m. at the Candlewood Suites on University East Drive. According to police, two suspects robbed the place at gunpoint. No injuries were reported. 

Other robberies reported in the City of Charlotte Tuesday morning are as follows: 

  • 2100 block of Canterwood 
  • 100 block of E McCullough Drive 
  • 800 block of Tyvola 

It's too early to say if all the reported robberies are connected. Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
