Tractor trailer catches fire in northeast Charlotte, no injuries reported

- A tractor trailer went up in flames in northeast Charlotte late Tuesday night.

Witness Dammion Pough sent FOX 46 video from the scene on W. Mallard Creek Church Rd. near I-85.

Pough says he and his girlfriend were driving down the road when they saw two tractor trailers on the side of the road.

One of the tractor trailers, with no trailer attached, was on fire. It then blew up, according to Pough, and was "spitting fire out on the woods nearby."

The couple immediately called 911. Charlotte Fire responded to the scene and put out the blaze. NC Highway Patrol was also on scene.

"We were just tying to do our part as a citizen to make sure no one got hurt," Pough said.

Luckily, no injuries were reported, but officials are still investigating the incident-- how the fire started and who was driving the vehicles.
