GASTONIA, NC (WJZY) - A truck carrying explosives overturned Monday afternoon in Gastonia, according to Gastonia Fire Department.
The accident happened about 3:30 p.m. on Highway 321 near Rankin Lake.
A hazardous material team worked to secure the truck. According to GFD, the load was secured about 4 p.m.
The driver was not injured.

Highway 321 was blocked heading southbound at C. Grier Beam Blvd. and northbound was blocked near Tulip Drive.
As of 4:45 p.m., all northbound lanes of Highway 321 and one southbound lane had been reopened.
The southbound lanes are expected to close again when a wrecker arrives, according to GFD.

It's unclear what kind caused the truck to overturn or the kind of explosives the truck was carrying.
