Two arrested in fatal September 2015 Salisbury shooting

- Two face drug charges in fatal Salisbury shooting.

On September 2, 2015 around 6:15 p.m. Salisbury officers were called out to the 1000 block of Rachel Lane in reference to subjects possibly shot.

When officers arrived they found two men shot at the home.

Nathan Pant, 37, was pronounced deceased on arrival. Tonya Wilks was the second victim and taken to Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center where she was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and then released, according to officers.

Desmond Kirkland left the scene before officers arrived and was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. He was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder and released.

Salisbury detectives discovered an attempted armed robbery had gone wrong during a drug deal and a struggle over the gun took place.

Detectives say Pant, Wilks and Kirkland were all shot with the same gun.

An autopsy examination shows Pant was killed in defense of others and in self-defense. The District Attorney's Office will not pursue criminal charges against the shooter.

Tiodomira Caudillo was arrested on various drug charges and placed in the RC Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.

Wilks faces a drug charge and is in the RC Detention Center under a $4,000 bond.
