SALISBURY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Two men are dead and at least two other people are suffering from gunshot wounds after an overnight shooting in the heart of downtown Salisbury.
Salisbury Police say that around 2:13 am Saturday morning the Rowan County 911 Center started receiving numerous calls of shots being fired in the 100 block of West Fisher St. Salisbury Police Officers and Rowan County Sheriff's Deputies were immediately dispatched to the area and upon arrival found evidence of multiple shots that were fired and also found a male victim on the ground who died from his injuries. Family members say 23-year-old Daquan Miller Robertson of Salisbury was the man that police found shot to death.
During this time, police also received a call from Novant Health Rowan Medical Center about three additional victims that arrived at the ER suffering from gunshot wounds. One of those victims, a male, was pronounced deceased by ER staff shortly after arrival. Police have indentifed that man as 22-year-old Anthony Gill.
20-year-old Kayla McCullers of Dallas is now at an area trauma center.
22-year-old Quandarius Davis was treated and released.
At the same time, Lexington Memorial Hospital contacted Salisbury Police to inform them that they had a person at their Emergency Department who had been shot. Investigators are trying to determine if this person is connected to the Salisbury shooting.
The NC State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist Salisbury Police with their investigation. No arrests have been made yet. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Rowan County Crime Stoppers at 866-639-5245.
The city of Salisbury sent out a tweet on Twitter this morning saying that tonight's event in downtown, Music at the Mural, has been cancelled.
