Two of three suspects caught after robbery, police chase

- Two people are in custody and another is on the run following a shooting and robbery late Wednesday night that turned into a high-speed police chase, police said. 

CMPD said at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday, August 23 they were called to the 3400 block of Teal Point Drive for reports of an armed robbery. 

Upon arrival, officers located a man with a gunshot wound during the course of a robbery. The victim was transported to Carolina’s Medical Center.

A short time later, officers located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The occupants refused to comply and a police chase began.

Three suspects jumped and ran from the vehicle at Tillman Road and Rowan Street, police said. 

With the assistance of Aviation, K-9 and patrol units, officers detained two people. Officers searched for the third suspect, but were unable to locate him. 

The two suspects detained were transported to area hospitals for minor injuries. Their names will be released once they have been formally charged, CMPD said. 

This is an ongoing, active investigation.
