Two teens charged in Lincoln County break-in

- Two teenagers have been charged in connection with a home break-in that happened in December in Stanley, police said. 

The break-in happened at a home on South Highway 16 on Thursday, December 14, 2017. 

Deputies responded to the call after it was reported that a back window had been broken and the back door kicked in. Electronic equipment and jewelry valued at more than $1,500 were taken during the break-in. 

Fingerprints were collected from the scene and transported to Gaston County Police Department for examination and entry in the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). 

On Friday, Jan. 12, Detective Greg Hager received information that the prints identified Derek Dwain Exline, 18, and Dax Moore Cranmer, 18. 

Exline has been charged with one felony count each of breaking and entering a building, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.

Cranmer was arrested on one felony count each of breaking and entering a building, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods. He was arrested on January 16, 2018 and jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.
