Two teens die, two charged in fatal Concord hit-and-run

- Two teenagers were killed and two have been charged in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in Concord overnight, police said. 

The hit-and-run happened at 10:19 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 on Concord Parkway North near Liske Avenue. 

When first responders arrived on scene they located two teens, ages 14 and 15, deceased after they were hit while crossing Concord Parkway North. The teenagers have been identified as Jessie Marroquin Avelino, 14, and Ricardo Solano, 15. The two teens were students at Concord High School. 

Witnesses described a light color vehicle leaving the area and the vehicle was found, abandoned, by a Cabarrus County Sheriff's deputy near the accident scene. Concord police officers subsequently located the driver and passenger of the vehicle. 

The driver, identified as Francisco Daniel Marin-Gonzalez, 21, is charged with two counts of felony hit-and-run, two counts of felony death by motor vehicle, and one count of duty to stop in event of crash and render reasonable assistance. Police said Marin-Gonzalez was operating the vehicle while under the influence of drugs which resulted in the deadly incident. He remains in the Cabarrus County jail under a $1 million secured bond.

The passenger, identified as mark Anthony Gutierrez-Santos, 19, is charged with one count of duty to stop in event of a crash and render reasonable assistance.
