Union County teacher arrested for sexual misconduct with student faces more charges

- A Union County middle school teacher is facing additional charges in connection to allegations of sexual misconduct with a student, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Daniel Wade Stanford, 35, a former teacher at Parkwood Middle School, was first arrested in May following a criminal investigation involving allegations of sexual misconduct with a former student.

Stanford resigned from his position with Union County Public schools shortly after the allegations surfaced.

Detectives filed 12 additional charges against Stanford yesterday that involve involve allegations of inappropriate behavior with two additional students. He now faces a total 28 charges. 

The new charges include four counts of indecent liberties with a student, four counts of indecent liberties with a child and four counts of simple assault.

Stanford was released from the Union County Jail on Thursday. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 5.

This investigation remains active. Detectives ask that anyone with additional information contact the Sheriff’s Office.
