INDIAN TRAIL, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Union County Crimestoppers announced Monday they're offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the murder of an 87-year-old man in Indian Trail.
Gov. Cooper also issued a reward last week announcing his office will be issuing a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
On September 6, 2017, deputies responded to Sim Augusta “S.A.” Flowe's home along Gribble Road after officers went there that morning to conduct a well-being check. Deputies located Flowe’s body in a residential office, an apparent victim of a homicide.
It was determined that Flowe’s home was situated just inside the Indian Trail Town limits and as a result, the Union County Sheriff’s Office said they assumed jurisdiction of the case.
An autopsy revealed that Flowe suffered from multiple stab wounds and the motive for the murder is likely robbery, deputies said.
"There were so many people coming in and out of that office and I would always tell S.A., 'You need to shut this door,' but he would always sit in there and sleep with the door open," friend Tony Pressley said.
Flowe was a landlord for a trailer park behind his apartment. Tenants said he was a generous man.
"He would loan [tenants] money," Pressley said. "Most of the time it was giving money because they didn't have any money to pay it back."
One tenant told FOX 46 Charlotte, rent was due the week Pressley was killed and he likely had cash on him when he was killed.
After conducting numerous interviews and following up on leads, investigators said they haven't conclusively identified those responsible and detectives believe the reward money will generate new information needed to move the case forward.
