CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - We're one month away from the price of the U.S. Postal Service's forever stamp going up.
In November, the Postal Regulatory Commission approved the rate increase of a forever stamp from 50 cents to 55 cents, which will take effect on Jan. 27, 2019.
Select first-class mail rates will change as follows:
- Forever stamp 50 cents will now be 55 cents
- Metered letter 47 cents will now be 50 cents
- Additional ounce 21 cents will now be 15 cents
Using Priority Mail services will also cost more at the end of January. An example provided is sending a retail small flat rate box currently costs $7.20 and will increase to $7.90.
USPS requested the rate changes in October.
