Video shows moments after fatal shooting in SE Charlotte


Newly released surveillance video shows the moments following a shooting Thursday night in southeast Charlotte where a man was killed.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. on Monroe Road near the 600 block of Fugate Avenue. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, 43-year-old Raymond James Johnson was found dead inside his car from a gunshot.

Video from a nearby business, released to FOX 46 Charlotte by CMPD, shows a white van pulling out across Monroe Road and pulling into what appears to be a parking lot across the street. The van then disappears for a few seconds. Moments later, what appears to be a white Chrysler can be seen violently pulling out into the road, making a turn in reverse, before crashing into a utility poll. Immediately after the crash, the white van can be seen speeding out of the parking area and taking off down the street.

No arrests have been made in the case, however Detectives were able to recover the suspect vehicle. They are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call 704-432-TIPS. 

Johnson's death marks the 54th murder in Charlotte for the year.
