Water bottle donations top 200,000 mark in Charlotte

More than 200,000 bottles of water were collected to send to flood victims in the Columbia, S.C. area on Tuesday.

WBT and 107.9 The Link radio stations hosted a water drive at Stonecrest Shopping Center in South Charlotte from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Two trucks were filled with more than 200,000 bottles, all packed into cases, and will be sent down on Thursday.

"Well, I think a lot of people are in the same boat I am," WBT's Bo Thompson said. "You see the pictures and you hear the stories and you think, 'What can I do?' You want to do something, they're just down the road from us."

Harris Teeter donated 60,000 bottles of the 200,000
