Woman accused of breaking 10-week-old baby's arm

- A Kannapolis woman has been arrested accused of breaking a 10-week-old baby's arm and fracturing the infant's ribs, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office. 

Kayla Marie Horne, 20, is charged with one count of felony child abuse inflicting serious physical injury. 

The Sheriff's Office said a report was filed on August 2, 2017 in reference to a 10-week-old baby who had suffered a broken arm.

The child was taken to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center by family members. Medical staff notified Iredell County Department of Social Services as well as the Sheriff's Office. Due to the extent of the child's injuries, the child was transferred to Levine's Children's Hospital at CMC. 

Upon further evaluation, the baby was found to have a fractured arm, a healing fracture on the other arm, and three healing rib fractures. The Sheriff's Office believes the abuse occurred between May 17 and August 2, 2017. 

Horne was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where she was processed and given a $125,000 secure bond.
