SALISBURY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Police have charged a woman in the fatal shooting of a Salisbury man.
Doreen Tamara Richardson, 23, has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting dead of 21-year-old Quavist Diwaun Phillips.
Around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, police were notified of a possible gunshot victim lying in the middle of the 300 block of Ackert Ave.
Officers responded to the scene and found Phillips dead in the roadway. Salisbury Police Criminal Investigations Division along with the NCSBI were then called to investigate the scene.
Detectives were able to develop Richardson as a suspect in the case based on witness statements.
Richardson's family contacted the Rowan County Sheriff's Office and brought her in. She was the turned over to the Salisbury Police Department for questioning.
After questioning the suspect, detectives were able to charge her with murder. She was placed in the Rowan County Jail under no bond.
