CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - FOX 46 is working to get results for a woman who says she stopped at an ATM where money was withdrawn from her bank account, but no cash came out. She was then charged twice, and this isn’t the first time it’s happened.
"This ATM is defective. Please use at your own risk. FOX 46 has been notified,” Jennifer Samuels wrote on a napkin.
She then taped it up to warn other Bank of America customers about the defective ATM she lost money to.
For Samuels. her trip to the branch on Conlan Circle in Ballantyne quickly took turned to déjà vu.
"Here we go again. Now they are going to hold my money again for days,” she said.
Friday afternoon she tried to withdraw money, but nothing came out.
"So they said they would refresh it. I asked the teller to make sure it didn't hit our account twice."
But then Samuels was charged twice.
"For a fairly large sum of money."
At first, Bank of America told her she wouldn't get credited until Monday. That's when Samuels took matters into her own hands.
"I wrote a note on a napkin and took some medical tape," she said. “Because I don't want this to happen to other people."
She's been a Bank of America customer for twenty years.
"[I] had a lot of faith in them, but this has happened to me twice in the past six months."
Now she wants the branch to close this ATM.
"Please fix them and make them more reliable, and take this particular ATM down until its fixed."
