CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A woman says she was struck by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police patrol vehicle Saturday evening in south Charlotte.
The woman said the incident happened around 9 p.m. but didn't call to report the incident until 11:08 p.m., according to detectives.
Police say the officer was in a marked patrol unit and was pulling out of a parking lot in the 5500 block of South Blvd. He was making a right turn as a male and female pedestrian were walking together on the sidewalk at the same entrance/exit to the parking lot that the officer was pulling out of. Detectives say the officer did not realize that his vehicle even struck somebody. There was no damage to the vehicle.
At 11:08 p.m. police found out about the alleged incident when the woman called 911 to report being struck and requested Medic. She was taken to the hospital by Medic.
Police say an accident report was completed and the officer was immediately tested for the presence of alcohol & drugs. The CMPD Internal Affairs will be conducting an investigation as well to see if any departmental policies & procedures were violated.
