MAIDEN, NC (FOX 46) - The Catawba County Sheriff's Office says a fatal shooting Tuesday night in Maiden, which ended in a SWAT standoff was actually a domestic dispute.
The sheriff's office says Angela Tramble was shot and killed and they believe her boyfriend, Jeffrey Hoppes turned the gun on himself.
Tuesday evening swarms of police and the SWAT Team descended on Topaz Drive in Maiden. Base on initial 911 calls, the sheriff's office believed a man was holding someone hostage. When deputies finally entered the home, they found Tramble's body with a gunshot wound.
Deputies believe Tramble's boyfriend, Jeffrey Hoppes, pulled the trigger and then shot himself in the face before police arrived.
"There isn't going to be any favorable outcome in this situation," said Bill Beard, Hoppes' cousin. "It's cold blood murder. " doubt there will be anyone having to go to court standing by."
Family members say the couple recently moved in together. Hoppes was separated last year and recently found out Tramble may be moving out of the home they shared together.
"He had never hurt a person before in his life. He has never been known to attack anybody, hurt anybody, steal from people."
Hoppes remains in the hospital in critical condition.
