SALISBURY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A woman was shot and killed by a man in Salisbury early Sunday, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, June 24, deputies were called to the 1400 block of North Long Street after reports shots fired into a house.
Upon arrival, deputies located Mirah Turner, 25, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead on scene.
Detectives said Witt Darnell Alexander Jr., 25, and another suspect came to the house and attempted to force their way inside. Turner attempted to close the door and that's when Alexander fired multiple shots into the home striking Turner.
Alexander has been charged with murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling. He is booked at the Rowan County Detention Center. The other suspect has yet to be identified. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (866) 639-5245.
