Woman upset over hair braiding service arrested

- A woman who was upset about the service she received at a Gastonia hair braiding salon was arrested Friday morning.

Gastonia Police say officers were called to Senemali African Hair Braiding in the 400 block of N. Broad Street around 10 a.m. for a disturbance.

The shop owner told police that Destinee Dyiesha Shamari Byers, 20, was upset over the hair braiding services she received and when she walked outside the shop owner locked her out. Byers tried to come back inside and then started banging and kicking on the door causing about $100 in damage to the door frame.

Officers say when they ran a wanted check on Byers it indicated she had an outstanding order for arrest. Officers placed her under arrest and when they searched her purse they located a small amount of marijuana.

Byers was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and an order for arrest. She was booked at the Gaston County Detention Center and given a $1,865 bond.
