YORK, SC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Bringing history to life.
FOX46 Charlotte recognizes teachers getting results in the classroom-- and this week, we meet a history teacher whose passion always leaves an impact on those in his classroom.
"He's the most lively teacher I've had," said Student Jamya Brice. "He wants you to succeed no matter what."
"He puts in the full mile," added Student Christian Loftis.
York Comprehensive High School's Mr. Andrew Dean is this week's teacher getting results.
"It's quite a surprise and an honor," Dean said. "It kind of makes me feel personally rewarded. It's meaningful -- I feel special and honored."
Mr. Dean brings history to life.
"We forget we're in 2018 and go back to the 1800s," said Brice. "He reenacts the whole feeling of that era and it's just really fun."
"Getting them up and out of their seats and getting them involved in the lesson," Dean said.
Dean was a basketball, track and football coach for several years.
"I enjoy when I get a group of kids and I can see the potential," he said, "And it challenges me to draw that out and get results to a point they're excited and they've accomplished something.&
Mr. Dean is always lively-- and students can tell he always cares.
"Whenever I need a pick me up I go by his class," said Principal Christopher Black. "The kids are working and thinking and doing the thinking-- he really challenges them. He pours his heart and soul into this and he's amazing at what he does."
"I want them to be better individuals than when they came in," Dean said.
