Over 200 flags cover a park to remind park-goers of their "duties"

220 pink flags were placed all over Romare Bearden Park to remind pet owners to pick up their pet's waste.

The Mecklenburg County parks and recreations department put the flags out on Wednesday to remind owners there are employees working and people using the park.

There are multiple stations in the park that provides bags for owners to pick up the waste.

Tim Turton, who manages the parks' horticulture program says there is just a small amount of people who do not use the stations correctly and they put the flags out so the waste can be easily found and picked up.

Turton said, "Winter time dog waste doesn't go away as fast."

The parks department wants to designate an area of the park for dogs to do their business.
