Police: Bomb Threat a Diversion for Bank Robbery

Cornelius police have made an arrest in the armed robbery at the Carolinas Telco Federal Credit Union on West Catawba Avenue. The investigation led them to Maryland.

Police previously told FOX 46 the suspect approached a bank teller with a gun and demanded money. They believe he had a vehicle waiting behind The Shops at Fresh Market shopping center. Police also found a bicycle and some money near the robbery.

Before the robbery occurred, police responded to a bomb threat at the YMCA on the east side of town. Now they believe this threat was a diversion for the robbery. Police found a minivan on video surveillance that was near the YMCA, and later near the shopping center where the cash and bicycle were found.

Police say Milandra Constant is an accomplice to the robbery. They charged her with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Making a False Bomb Report at the YMCA. No word yet on the identity of the man in the bank surveillance video. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
