Police investigate officer involved shooting in Atlanta

Atlanta police are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened late Tuesday night in Atlanta.

Police said officers were called to a report of someone waving a gun from a car. Officers located the vehicle and pursued it.

Police tried to pull over the car near the southwest Atlanta intersection of McDaniels and Ralph David Abernathy.

Officials tell FOX 5 four people jumped out of the car and shots were fired.

Officers chased the car roughly five to six miles, all the way into DeKalb County. AT the end of Sugar Creek Place, detectives said three men and a woman bailed out of the car and took off on food. Officers said they followed them behind a house and that's when gunshots were exchanged.

One man was shot in the leg; another shot in the abdomen, a third man had facial injuries from resisting arrest. A female was arrested at the scene. No officers were said to be injured.

Police recovered two weapons at the scene and said the Hyundai the suspects were riding in was stolen. Investigators are trying to link the gunmen to an armed robbery that had taken place earlier in the evening near where the car was originally spotted.

FOX 5 has a crew on the scene of this developing story.
