GLADSTONE, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a police officer has been shot and that a hostage taken by a suspected shooter is safe.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter Monday evening that the situation in the town of Gladstone, about 17 miles south of Portland, was still developing.
The sheriff’s office says the Gladstone police officer who was shot is OK. Authorities tweeted just before 8:10 p.m. that the hostage was safe.

The sheriff’s office said SWAT was at the scene and that people should stay away from Oregon Route 99 in Gladstone.
No further information was immediately available.
