A 90-acre multi-use development project broke ground in South Charlotte on Wednesday.
The project, located off Providence Road near Ardrey Kell Road, will be anchored by a 40,000-square foot Whole Foods Market -- set to open in 2016.
The entire layout will include 70 homes, 375 apartments, a hotel, doctor's office, office space and an abundance of retail. The development is expected add more than 1,000 jobs to the area, including hospitality, retail and restaurant.

Hilton Garden Inn, Ted's Montana Grill , Ivy & Leo, Chuy's, Chipotle, CVS, Chick-fil-A< McDonald's and Quik Trip -- as well as a Dressler's Restaurant concept, Novanta 90 Pizzeria Napoletana, Bad Daddy's, Modern Salon and Spa, Ultraskin Wax Center, Polished Nail and Firehouse Subs.
