Zaxby's armed robbery suspect arrested

39-year-old Michael Mitchell has been arrested for armed robbery at the Zaxby's off of Sugar Creek Rd.

University City Division Officers arrived at Zaxby's around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after a call was made. An employee told the officers a man armed with a knife came up to him and demanded money. Once the suspect got the money he jumped in a car and left with a driver.

An officer with the CMPD Motorcycle Unit spotted the suspects not long after a description was sent out on West W.T. Harris Boulevard and Statesville Road. The officers took the subjects into custody.

According to CMPD Mr. Mitchell was taken to CMC-University for minor medical issues. After Mitchell was released he was taken to the police station where detectives interviewed him and charged him with armed robbery. The driver was issued a citation for No Operators License and released.
