Carolina Panthers sign free agent guard Jeremiah Sirles

- The Carolina Panthers have signed free agent guard Jeremiah Sirles.

Sirles enters his fifth season in the NFL as he spent the last three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and was signed by San Diego in 2014 out of Nebraska.

In 2017, Sirles played in 14 regular season games with four starts, with all four coming at left guard. He helped the Vikings rank seventh in the NFL in rushing yards with 122.3 yards per game. In his starts, Minnesota averaged 132.0 rushing yards per game, nearly 10 yards more than the season average. The Vikings advanced to the NFC Championship game as Sirles played in both postseason games.

In 2016, Sirles started a career-high 10 games while playing in 14. Minnesota’s passing game ranked seventh in the NFL that season with a team passer rating of 97.7.

Sirles worked his way into a starting role by the end of his rookie season in 2014 after San Diego signed him as an undrafted free agent. He was then traded to Minnesota prior to the start of the 2015 regular season.

He has 30 career games played with 15 career starts.
