Cam Newton wins Ed Block Courage Award

Cam Newton has won the 2015 Ed Block Courage Award for showing courage on and off the field. Newton's teammates voted to honor him with the award.

Newton has been a vocal supporter for the health and education of young people in Charlotte and Atlanta. The Cam Newton Foundation has donated more than $400,000 to public schools since 2012.

On the field, Newton became the first NFL player in history to get 30 passing touchdowns (35) and 10 rushing touchdowns (10) in a single season.

The award is named after Ed Block, an athletic trainer for the Colts when the team was in Baltimore. He was a humanitarian, as well as a well-respected trainer in his industry.

Last year Greg Olsen won the honor, and the year before that, Ryan Kalil.
