Charlotte 49ers football ready for bounce back season

- Spring football is welcomed sight over at UNC Charlotte as the 49ers can finally put behind last season's disappointing 1-11 campaign.

"That's not who we wanna be, so I've challenged our football team and our program," said head coach Brad Lambert.  "The fact that we're not a startup program anymore. We laid a really good foundation.  It's time to build the house."

So the 49ers made changes this offseason hiring a new offensive coordinator in Shane Montgomery and a new defensive coordinator in Glenn Spencer.

"Defensively I really like the energy and effort and I like how coach Spencer has the guys playing," said Lambert. "Offensively, I like the pace we are playing at. It's a little bit different for us. We're putting a real premium on execution, that's what we need to do."

Concord native Hasaan Klugh started at quarterback much of the last two seasons, but coach Lambert will evaluate all the quarterbacks on the roster before making a final decision on a starter in August.

Charlotte will hold their spring game April 21st.
