Former Panther Steve Smith out for season with torn Achilles

Former Carolina Panther Steve Smith suffered a torn Achilles tendon as his current team, the Baltimore Ravens played against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Ravens Head coach John Harbaugh announced the injury after the game and said the veteran will miss the rest of the season.

The veteran fell to the turf in the third quarter and immediately pointed at his right leg and signaled for the training staff to come help him. Two trainers helped him up and more or less carried to the locker room. Smith was unable to put any weight on the foot.

Smith had been planning to retire at the end of the season. After Sunday's game, he sent out a tweet to all the Ravens fans.
