Founder of Concord company wins Fifth Third 'What Drives You' contest

- A Concord business owner is turning tragedy into bittersweet triumph. Doug Herbert's two sons were killed in a car crash leading him to create Put on the B.R.A.K.E.S.

The organization is a driving program that teaches young drivers to be more aware when they're behind the wheel.

Well, he entered the programs Fifth Third What Drives You Contest and on Thursday he discovered he had won!

"I've been a racer for a long time so being involved with a racing team and having more exposure with the racing family is just super, but the main thing is it's so neat that Fifth Third Bank is recognizing what we're doing, recognizing our charity work that we're doing," Doug Herbert said, founder of Put on the B.R.A.K.E.S.

Herbert is going to have his company logo on Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s Fifth Third Ford during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 and will also attend the race with full VIP treatment.
