Hornets Kidd-Gilchrist undergoes successful shoulder surgery

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Charlotte Hornets Michael Kidd-Gilchrist underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, according to a spokesperson for the team.

Kidd-Gilchrist will miss the rest of the 2015-16 NBA season.

He first tore the labrum in his right shoulder during a preseason game, forcing him to have surgery and keeping him out four months. He returned in January and was averaging 12.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29.3 minutes over seven games.
