Panthers Cornerback Josh Norman on his future with the franchise

Josh Norman is a self-proclaimed Carolina boy. The Panthers cornerback grew up in Greenwood, SC, went to college at Coastal Carolina, and now he's played for the home team for 4 years.

He's even a NASCAR fan. "Jimmy Johnson is very cool," Norman said on Good Day Charlotte. "Jeff [Gordon] has always been my favorite, I'm not going to shy away from saying that, but Austin Dillon, that's my guy!" Norman confirmed he went to Daytona for the sport's biggest race of the season.

If Norman hadn't played in the NFL, he had a backup plan. "I'm going to be honest with ya'll. I was planning on being Denzel [Washington]!" He majored in communications and minored in theater in college, but theater got in the way of football, and his coach wouldn't let him do both.

Norman became a free agent after he helped the in their Panthers' run to the Super Bowl. Many are speculating that he's roughly doubled his worth to the franchise. Norman said on Good Day Charlotte, "I've been a Carolina boy since day 1. I don't want to change that."

Norman is hosting his first annual celebrity and charity basketball game Friday at the Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology at 6:30 p.m. Rapper Mark B will be performing his hit song, "Carolina Anthem," a song Norman has been working out to for months.

Money raised at the charity event will go towards building a recreational center for children in South Carolina.
