The Carolina Panthers have signed free agent wide receiver Jarius Wright to a three-year contract, the team announced Tuesday. Wright previously played six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
In 2017, he played in all 16 games, making 18 catches for 198 yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings. He played in both playoff games, making three receptions in each.
Wright set career highs in the 2014 season when he hauled in 42 receptions for 588 yards. He caught an 87-yard touchdown reception in overtime against the Jets (12/7/14), marking the longest game-winning touchdown in Vikings history.
Drafted out of Arkansas in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Wright played the last six seasons in Minnesota with 15 starts in 79 games played, plus four playoff games. He totaled 2,039 yards receiving on 153 receptions with 10 touchdowns. Over 40 percent of Wright’s career receptions (62) and 45 percent of his receiving yards (915) have come on third down.
