Race fans hope rain won't impact All-Star Race

- The weather has already put a little damper on events at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, but fans are hoping the rain will hold off for Saturday night's All-Star Race.

Fans are traveling from all over the country to Concord.

Qualifying for one of the races was cancelled. Fox 46 Charlotte found some race fans who know how to have a good time, rain or shine.

If the rain affects race events near the Charlotte Motor Speedway, there's a place for race fans to drown their sorrows.

It's called Five-O's Tiki Bar. A group of police officers from Richmond, Virginia brought a traveling tiki bar to Concord to the campground across from the speedway for the All-Star Race.

"We drew this up in a bar one night and built it, and now we just start hauling it around to races in a little enclosed trailer," said Robbie Hess.

Everyone is hoping the rain won't stop the race in its tracks Saturday.

"You can't make your plans based upon the weather forecast. You may have a good weather forecaster, but you gotta just make your plans and go with it," said Gary Sharp, a NASCAR fan.

The rain is not something the speedway can't handle.

"We've had to battle mother nature in the past. This weekend may be more of the same. We've brought in 13 jet dryers," said Jonathan Coleman with the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
