CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Tiger Woods will not be returning to Charlotte this year to play next weekend's Wells Fargo Championship.
Woods did not commit to play before the 5 p.m. deadline Friday, meaning he will miss the tournament in at Quail Hollow. Woods played in the Wells Fargo Championship last year for the first time since 2012 and finished in 55th place.
He has elected to skip the torunament to prepare for the PGA Championship in three weeks. Woods has not played a PGA Tour event since he won his 15th major golf tournament at the Masters two weeks ago.
