Elementary school teacher Susan Green creates fun learning environment for students

- Mrs. Susan Green, a teacher full of energy and encouragement at Waxhaw Elementary School always focuses on the individual needs of her students.

“She's a great teacher she really digs into the individual needs of the students and treats them individually and forms those relationships with them and makes them very successful by the end of the year,” said Waxhaw Elementary School principal Eric Doan.

That's why Mrs. Susan Green is being recognized for her hard work in the classroom as this week's Teacher getting Results.

“I’m shocked I am honored I’ve been teaching a long time I love teaching and coming to work every day so it’s nice to be recognized esp for something you love to do,” Mrs. Green said,

And it's something she's done for more than 20 years now.

“The reward is seeing them realize they can do something really well that maybe they thought they couldn't do well before then,” she said.

Mrs. Green teaches several different subject matters-- but her lessons go far beyond the classroom.

“A lot of my lessons are students centered in that it's not me up teaching all the time I want them to learn from each other,” Mrs. Green said. “What I really want to teach the students is to be creative thinkers to kind of figure out how to solve the probes and work together and be the very best they can in the classroom.”

She’s loved by the community as well; parents are excited when their kids are in her classroom. Her encouraging nature and upbeat attitude always puts a smile on these kids’ faces.

“She’s really nice and she’s a fun teacher,” said one student.

“It’s really fun her classroom is fun and she makes everything happy for me,” said another.

“I really love it and I continue or plan to continue to do it for a very long time,” said Mrs. Green.
