(FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - They say April showers bring May flowers. Well, what does April snow bring? Confusion? There’s a chance for snow Tuesday morning.
Charlotte and surrounding neighborhoods have a chance to see snow Tuesday morning. A coastal low pressure system will move along the coast of the Carolinas after midnight. This provides the moisture needed for precipitation. Cold air will be in place thanks to high.
The timing and location of the low pressure will determine what type of precipitation may occur. If cloud cover moves in early, temperatures may be too high above freezing to support snowfall, resulting in a cold rain. However, if the Low moves in while near freezing temperatures are in place, snow could mix in with rain.
Because the moisture is moving in from the south, neighborhoods south of I-85 have a better chance of seeing a mix than counties north of I-40.
Most Likely Scenario: Cloud cover and cold rain possible after 6 a.m. A few snowflakes could mix in until 10 a.m. in the metro. Accumulation would be little to none.
Today: Increasing clouds. Hi: 75 Lo: 36
Tomorrow: Morning rain. Possibly wet snow. Drying out the second half of the day. Hi: 55 Lo: 37
Wednesday: Mostly sunny and warmer. Hi: 68 Lo: 44
Thursday looks great before another system moves in and drops a better chance for rain. Once that system moves out the weekend looks GREAT! Partly sunny skies with highs in the mid 70s.
