Account Executive (Full-Time, Regular): WJZY/WMYT, the Fox Owned and Operated television station in Charlotte, NC is seeking a highly motivated Account Executive who will help local and regional advertisers achieve their business objectives through effective TV and digital advertising. The ideal candidate must be able to identify qualified targets, use strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (FOX Network Prime and Sports, My Network TV, Digital Sponsorships and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as order entry, weekly forecasts and reports, new business trackers and the credit and collection of all accounts.
The ideal candidate must possess a solid knowledge of the market, advertising community and have a proven record of sales accomplishments. Must be a self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for someone who is energetic, positive, creative and passionate to succeed in the highly competitive environment of media sales. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking are critical to the position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required and knowledge of media-related software and research tools such as Wide Orbit, Wide Orbit Media Sales, Scarborough and DirectHEAT is a plus. Candidate must possess an aggressive desire to win attitude. A four-year college degree is required. Media sales experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus.
Social Media Marketing & Engagement Producer (Full-Time, Regular): WJZY-TV, the FOX Owned and Operated duopoly television station in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Social Media and Marketing Engagement Producer. The ideal candidate is the primary liaison between Creative Services, Programming and News to promote WJZY & WMYT programming priorities and community outreach. The ideal candidate is responsible for coordinating and creating content to promote our stations, including: engaging audiences, interacting with communities, increasing brand awareness and highlighting important programming initiatives. Works with the VP of Creative Services, VP of News and Digital Content Manager to develop and implement strategies for all of the stations’ social media and digital platforms. Creates compelling and engaging social content and digital stories daily. Conceptualizes and produces high profile creative marketing material for digital and social. Gathers social, news and promotional content in the field. Actively engages in online communities and blogs to promote FOX 46 Charlotte, the station’s talent and website, driving traffic to the station’s website and programming. Grows friends, followers and subscribers on social sites. Performs duties of digital editor, specializing in print style writing, copy editing and editorial newsgathering, as needed. Facilitates the editorial gathering of compelling web material using information from various sources and contacts. Identifies and responds to emerging social media and mobile trends to increase the stations’ reach. Partners with the Digital Content Manager to serve as a social media leader and training leader for the station, training on best practices for creation and publication of social media content and embedding a social mentality into our culture. Works with editorial team to highlight comments and feedback for use on air, when appropriate. Complies with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelines. Other duties as assigned. Demonstrated fluency in social media and multimedia platform work required. Existing following on social media strongly preferred. Ability to present digital and social content live on-air and online. Knowledge of internet publishing software, editing software and content management systems such as Adobe Premiere, iNews, Extreme Reach, Web CMS, Bit Central and Social Media Platforms (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) Excellent broadcast, web and social writing. Handle multiple demands and competing priorities simultaneously in a strict deadline-oriented environment. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work under pressure as a cohesive member of a team. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Bachelors’ degree preferred. (2-4) years of previous social media marketing experience is required.
PHOTOJOURNALIST (Full-Time, Regular): WJZY-TV, the FOX Owned and Operated duopoly television station in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Photojournalist with an eye to shoot, edit and gather sound from newsworthy events, locations or people for use in newscasts by performing the following duties: Shoots and edits breaking stories, live shots and other news stories as assigned. Occasionally writes packages and/or assembles natural sound packages. Gathers news in the field independently. Assist in gathering and posting stories on-line and to air. Must have the ability to visually tell compelling stories. Operates video camera and audio equipment creatively in diverse conditions and at times under extreme deadlines. Assists Operations department with studio camera and floor management. Operates all live technology (i.e. Live U, KA trucks, etc.). Drives and operates company vehicles in a safe and defensive manner. This includes driving in heavy metropolitan traffic, at night and in bad weather. Edits videotape for playback for air. Operates microwave trucks. Maintains vehicle and news gathering equipment properly. Assist with newscasts outside the normal work schedule at time of severe weather conditions or breaking news. Meets all scheduling and broadcast deadlines. Must be involved in Social Media. Responsible for any and all equipment issued by FOX. Supports Local News Service as assigned. Has ability to work a flexible schedule. Comply with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelines related activities. Some in-studio camera duties required. Other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on journalism and/or Communication preferred. Minimum of two years’ equivalent experience. Knowledge of non-linear editing systems. Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
MULTI-MEDIA JOURNALIST (Full-Time, Regular): WJZY-TV, the FOX Owned and Operated television station in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Multi-Media Journalist with the total package – a professional journalist who can track down and dig into a compelling story then shoot, write, edit and front it live – all while interacting with all digital platforms. The ideal candidate must be ready to work at a fast past and stay well-informed on current events and local newsmakers. Must possess the ability to establish a network of contacts and work them to find and report news stories. The best candidate must be a self-starter with a great attitude and a desire to compete and to improve as a journalist. FOX46 is part of the “newsroom of the future” movement. You will be working with 21st century newsgathering technology, operating as a self-contained and mobile content generator. Excellent communication, writing and grammar skills are required for both the broadcast and digital platforms. Comply with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelines related activities. A minimum of 3 years’ experience reporting news is required. Must be willing to work weekends. A Bachelor’s degree in communications or journalism strongly preferred. Some training will be provided, if needed. Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds, ability to walk with equipment up and down stairs and over rough terrain to complete essential job functions.
It is an essential part of all newsroom employees to be willing to adjust hours to meet the fluctuating demands of a news team in a competitive market. If special events fall on the employee’s day off he/she may be required to participate, if requested. Varied hours may also be required based on the needs of the department. From time to time may be required to produce newscasts to help cover sick/vacation time of others. As part of the news team, holidays that fall Monday through Friday will be worked, time-off requests are approved by management. No vacations will be approved one week prior and during television-rating periods.
