DIGITAL CONTENT CREATOR (Full-Time, Regular): We're hiring a Digital Content Creator to be part of our next-level team at WJZY/WMYT, FOX 46-TV in Charlotte, NC. Reporting to the Digital Content Manager, the Digital Content Creator will be laser-focused on telling stories that matter most to digital and social users-- and doing it better than anyone else.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Create compelling, UX-focused content related to news, events and topics relevant to local users and beyond, including text stories, photos/graphics, live streaming content, breaking news, and social media elements. Engage and build loyalty among communities. Serve as liaison to newsroom, ensuring digital and social dominance. Reach and engage users on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and beyond. Work with Group Content Team and other FTS markets to distribute high-interest stories at scale. Follow group standards. Monitor real-time analytics. Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: 3+ years’ experience developing and publishing content, including news, on digital and social platforms preferred. BA/BS degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications or related field with emphasis on digital publishing. Excellent writer and storyteller. Superior news judgement. Impeccable writing and copy editing skills. Overwhelming attention to detail. Thrive under deadline pressure. Stellar communication skills. Social media expert. ASSOCIATE PRODUCER (Full-Time, Regular):  WJZY-TV, FOX 46 in Charlotte, NC is seeking a quick-thinking Associate Producer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the daily organization, writing and editing of newscasts as assigned by Producers and/or Executive Producers.  Write copy that is fair, accurate and grammatically correct. View video tape and select appropriate pictures and interviews for broadcast as approved by news management.  Ability to recognize story inadequacies or missing information.  Work independently to find the necessary information to complete the story and give feedback to Producers if more resources are required to support the story using all available means (i.e. telephone, databases, computer archive searches, etc.) Work with field crews to manage stories, provide graphics, video and logistical support.  Coordinate daily video feeds for newscasts.  Work closely with assignment desk to coordinate live shots and Reporter & Photojournalist assignments.  Maintain open communication with News director and all station personnel to efficiently, respectfully and professionally complete news assignments.  This includes monitoring the wire service to ascertain relevant stories for inclusion in newscasts. Must print, rip and organize scripts for talent, producers and director. Attend and participate in editorial meetings. Provide suggestions for news related stories and participate in post-production critiques.  Constantly move throughout the station to coordinate work requirements and news related activities.  Occasionally bends, stoops and crouches.  Constantly operates PC, using a keyboard, to complete required news items and related materials. Sits for extended periods of time in order to accomplish essential duties. PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN (Part-Time, Regular):  WJZY-TV, the FOX 46 in Charlotte, North Carolina is looking for a part-time Production Technician, who will report to the Production & Operations Manager. The ideal candidate must have a thorough understanding and knowledge of broadcast television production.  Duties for the part-time Production Technician include, floor directing, studio camera operation, studio lighting board operation, guest and talent management, and other duties as assigned.  Additional required skills include but are not limited to: stage management, proper placement of microphones on news anchors and guests, ability to handle unexpected and last minute changes and ability to effectively communicate those changes promptly to studio talent while adjusting floor configurations and shot requests.  The production technician must possess the ability to work promptly, under pressure in a cohesive team environment, have clear verbal skills and be reliable with a great attitude as well as be prompt and reliable with a great attitude. Comply with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelines related activities. High School diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to work holidays, weekends and flexible schedules. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

WEEKEND METEOROLOGIST / MMJ (Full-Time, Regular): WJZY-TV, FOX 46 in Charlotte, NC is looking for a Weekend Meteorologist / MMJ. The right candidate will have experience in severe weather coverage and knowledge of industry-standard broadcast weather computer and radar systems.  Must have demonstrated experience in use of social media and alert systems to disseminate weather information across all platforms.  Ideal candidate must also be a great communicator and have ideas on how to make weather current, relevant and interesting to viewers, even on days when the weather is quiet.  We are looking for someone with the ability to shoot, edit, and report stories, including traditional weathercasts, from the studio and in the field.  Must be able to fill in for Chief Meteorologist, if needed. Ability to occasionally produce feature news content is a plus.  A minimum of three years’ experience working as a weather anchor in a medium or large market is required. Must have a polished on air presentation with a strong basis in science. A strong social media presence is a plus. This is a rare opening at a station that takes weather seriously. Degree in meteorology preferred. AMS Seal required, will consider someone eligible for testing.

NEWS OPERATIONS MANAGER (Full-Time, Regular):  WJZY/WMYT-TV, FOX 46 in Charlotte, NC is seeking a News Operations Manager.  The News Operations Manager reports to the VP/News Director and is responsible for the day-to-day news and administrative operations. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of news coverage including daily assignments, planning and coverage of big events, special programming and live remote shows.  Supervises all field operations for WJZY/WMYT, including the supervision of all field crews for news, “Good Day Charlotte” and editors.  Assists with staff annual performance appraisal process.  Trains, coaches and monitors the progress of MMJ’s and Photojournalists on field related equipment.  Assists in the development of story ideas and execution.   Responsible for the booking, scheduling and assigning of personnel and equipment for all field related operations.  Assists in the evaluation, budgeting and purchasing of all field related equipment.  Manages all news video, including feeds for quality control and video archiving for news purposes and FCC regulations.  Maintains, tracks, troubleshoots and regularly monitors equipment and/or systems assigned to news staff for accountability, including technical and editorial problems within editing.   Evaluates new technology and makes recommendations for budgets. Edits for newscasts and special projects.  Works closely with Production Operations Manager to serve as a liaison between News, Engineering and IT Departments. Maintains strong and close working relationship with news management team to resolve problems and to create and execute new ideas. Must have working knowledge of newsroom budget and AP invoice system to coordinate purchases, maintenance and repair of all station vehicles, cell phones, air cards and any other related equipment.  Oversees news dubs for clients, subpoenas and other programming. Acts as liaison between BitCentral. Assembles, maintains and distributes internet transmission tools and newsgathering kits.  Maintains user interface and trains staff with the FOX Fiber News Network. Other duties as assigned.  Complies with all FTS computer requirements – myfoxpay, Navigator training, password protection, etc. Complies with all FTS and Station policies.  Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience required in all aspects of field operations. Knowledge of automobile and truck repair a plus.  Knowledge of newsroom computer systems and satellite news gathering required. Must have minimum of 2 years’ managerial experience. Good leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills is essential in this role.  Adept to stay up-to-date on current events and on station technology as well as other technologies for potential inclusion in WJZY/WMYT operations.  Must be able to report to work to assist with newscasts outside of the normal work schedule at times of severe weather conditions or breaking news. Must be able to regularly stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (2 - Full-Time, Regular): WJZY/WMYT, Fox 46 in Charlotte, NC is seeking a highly motivated Account Executive who will help local and regional advertisers achieve their business objectives through effective TV and digital advertising.  The ideal candidate must be able to identify qualified targets, use strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (FOX Network Prime and Sports, My Network TV, Digital Sponsorships and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as order entry, weekly forecasts and reports, new business trackers and the credit and collection of all accounts.

The ideal candidate must possess a solid knowledge of the market, advertising community and have a proven record of sales accomplishments.  Must be a self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for someone who is energetic, positive, creative and passionate to succeed in the highly competitive environment of media sales. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking are critical to the position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required and knowledge of media-related software and research tools such as Wide Orbit, Wide Orbit Media Sales, Scarborough and DirectHEAT is a plus.  Candidate must possess an aggressive desire to win attitude.  A four-year college degree is required. Media sales experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus.

News Schedules:

It is an essential part of all newsroom employees to be willing to adjust hours to meet the fluctuating demands of a news team in a competitive market. If special events fall on the employee’s day off he/she may be required to participate, if requested. Varied hours may also be required based on the needs of the department. From time to time may be required to produce newscasts to help cover sick/vacation time of others. As part of the news team, holidays that fall Monday through Friday will be worked, time-off requests are approved by management. No vacations will be approved one week prior and during television-rating periods.
