1 dead, 2 airlifted to hospital after 3-vehicle crash involving tractor-trailer

One person was killed after their car was struck by a tractor trailer Tuesday near Highway 322 in Rock Hill, police said.

Investigators say the crash happened on Heckle Boulevard near SC Hwy 322 and involved three vehicles. They say the driver of a 2001 Honda Accord was trying to turn south when it was struck by the tractor trailer. Both vehicles lost control and crossed over the center line hitting a 2012 Nissan Sedan.

The driver of the Honda Accord was pronounced dead on scene. Two other passengers in the vehicle were airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center-Main.

The victim's name has not been released.

Officials closed the area between Main Street and Cherry Road as they worked the scene. It has since been reopened.
