1 in custody, 1 sought in deadly shooting, robbery of Charlotte mother

An arrest has been made in connection to the deadly shooting and robbery of a Charlotte mother as she was heading to work early Tuesday morning in east Charlotte, according to CMPD.

Antonio Darnell Shine, 19, has been taken into custody for his involvement in this case, police said. 

The deadly armed robbery happened around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 3 along the 6200 block of Barrington Drive. 

Police said a woman, identified as Maria Eduvigig Echeverria de Gomez, 36, was shot during the incident that spanned across two different neighborhoods. She was transported to CMC-Main for treatment where she was pronounced dead. Her family has been notified of her death. 

Shine has been charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. CMPD said they are still actively searching for a second suspect in this case. The two suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a black sedan on Barrington Drive traveling towards Milton Road.
