CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - CMPD is investigating a crash that left one person dead in north Charlotte on Thursday.
Officers were called to the 10200 block of Stateville Rd. just before 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 27 in reference to a head on collision.
Iredell County EMS also responded to the scene and pronounced one driver deceased. Another driver was taken to Atrium Health with life threatening injuries.
Preliminary information indicates that a black 2012 Honda CRV was on Statesville Rd. when it traveled left of center directly into the path of a silver 2014 Infiniti Q50.
The Infiniti swerved right to avoid the crash, but was still struck by the Honda. The Honda came to rest in the roadway, and the Infiniti was spun around and off the roadway. The driver of the Infiniti was killed.
Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors for the driver of the Infiniti. Impairment of the driver of the Honda is undetermined at this time. That driver is still listed in critical condition, police say.
Any witnesses to the crash or anyone with information should contact Officer M.R. Pressley at (704) 432-2169 or call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
