One person has been killed and another was injured following a shooting Wednesday morning at an apartment complex in Huntersville, authorities confirm. Two suspects remain on the loose.

The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. at a newly built apartment complex along Bryton Pass Lane.

Medic tells FOX 46 Charlotte that one man was pronounced dead on scene. A second man was transported to CMC-Main with life threatening injuries, they said.

Huntersville Police said a Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office Deputy was flagged down by neighbors around 10 a.m. The victim who passed away was found outside at the apartment complex.

The two suspects are described as mid-20s black males; with one dressed all in black and the other dressed all in gray. The two reportedly fled the scene in an older Honda Civic four-door sedan.

A motive for the deadly shooting remains under investigation.

HPD said Hambright Road between Old Statesville Road and Bryton Corporate Center Parkway is closed due to police activity. Drivers are asked to avoid the area. Anyone with information is asked to call Huntersville Police at (704) 464-5400.
