15-year-old sexually assaulted at Concord library, deputies say

A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at a Concord library, according to the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the assault occurred at the Concord branch of the Cabarrus County Public Library, located at 27 Union Street North, on November 17. They say a library employee called to report that a man had been seen outside around 10 a.m. talking to the teenage girl, who then went into a bathroom with him shortly before 1 p.m.

The assault took place in that bathroom, according to the Sheriff's Office, and the suspect, 32-year-old Larry Herman Barrino, now has warrants out for his arrest. He has been charged with two counts of statutory sex offense with a child.

“We believe this is an isolated incident,” said Cabarrus County Sheriff Brad Riley. The Sheriff’s Office reports that no further information is available at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
